His riffs and solos are perfectly able to paint the beauty of evil, the dark forces, particularly the solo of "The Ritual".īesides the outstanding guitar work, the rest of the band isn't exactly average either. Extremely few people are able to create something this far from music principles, theoretical advancedness, but more effective than pretty much anyone. Listen to the riffs in "Bestial Invasion", "Black Death", they are just so damn colorful and darkly beautiful. His riffs are very unique, they sound totally different from the rest of the thrash guitarist lineup. I would like to highlight Mike Sifringer, who in one person was the reason why I ever picked up a guitar and started playing (as a hobby). Why exactly is this record one of the best thrash albums of all time? It is very well put together, it's extremely colorful, it's filled with tasty riffs, very good solos, the vocals are totally psychotic, and the whole atmosphere of the record is very complete. This might become your favorite record of all time. If you are not into this specific type of music, this might not be for you. The pace is relatively fast, the riffs are very melodic for them being thrash riffs, the music is very catchy, so this is from the same era, and the atmosphere is just as dark and evil as it gets. It is more like the type of speed/thrash that Show No Mercy was, and/or Feel The Fire. The record's sound and style cannot be called 100% polished, crystallized thrash metal as we know that genre today. The genre was still evolving, but there were some thrash-defining albums this year, think about Bonded by Blood or Hell Awaits. The record came out in 1985, which has been a special year for thrash metal. It is not as heavy, it is not as crushing as some others, but in its own way, it keeps up with any thrash record you put it next to. This album is certainly my favorite record from the German (originally) trio, and it's no doubt one of the greatest thrash albums of all time. Aside from the fact that they were the ones who got me into heavy music, I always found their music extremely unique even after hearing hundreds and hundreds of records in the same genre.
